Post Election Depression-Political Campaign 2008

All people in the United States invested, more or less, in this 2008 political campaign; by contributing with money, or receiving mail about the candidates, phone calls, watching or reading the news and the most popular participation, talking about it, made you part of this campaign. Even if you just said I don’t give a “rabano” about it.

What next? Post Campaign Depression.

In my modest opinion this depression is hitting all of us. If your candidate is the one that will assume the presidency in January 2009, or if you candidate is the one that won’t; either way we get affected.

This depression may not be compared with others that you may already have, or will have, but it’s real. This depression consist of the sense of lost. If you candidate won, it wouldn’t matter, the thrill about the campaign is gone; because its over. That emotion that you were feeling that night of November 4th waiting for the results its over. The thrill at the poll’s line waiting to perform your vote its over. All the excitement about the political race its over.

The fact that you candidate didn’t make it is something you have to deal with. All the effort made by people participating in the political race in terms of phone calls, knocking doors, distributing political paraphernalia, not sleeping well, waiting to be in “power”, its among the things that will cause this sense of loss, for all the people involved not matter your affiliation or political believe.

What to do now?

One thing that is also true for all of us is wishing for the best. Let’s see if the new government is capable of complying with all the promises and plans offered during the campaign for the welfare of the United States. Let’s see if those that didn’t favor the new government can put their differences aside and be part of the progress for a better country for all the people that lives in here.

Let’s review the impact of this historical moment and do your part for a better future.

Where is the sign for the Republicans, in this part of the city? Oh boy.

Democrats were the only one represented in this area of the city.

Only for two questions I found signs. Bad, bad...

Line at the polls, I waited for 35 minutes, only, I was lucky.
